Need: Motivate consumers to shop at their local SuperValu and purchase General Mills products.
Solution: Reward customers with two free tickets through Fandango to see Batman “The Dark Knight” when they purchase ten General Mills products.
How it Worked: In partnership with one of their major suppliers, SuperValu offered two free tickets to the popular Batman sequel with the purchase of any ten qualifying General Mill’s products in order to thank customers.
Utilizing Fandango, movie tickets were conveniently available on the internet through their print at-home online service or for pick-up at the theater. In those markets where a theater associated with Fandango was not nearby, tickets were redeemed by sending participants a Fandango Visa® Prepaid Card. This allowed the promotion to have nationwide coverage.
Result: Fandango enjoyed increased usage and awareness of their services, while customers were able to see a summer blockbuster free of charge!
